Shoreham Coastal Regatta Success for Hastings Rowing Club

Hastings Rowing Club had a fantastic day at the Shoreham Coastal Rowing Regatta, hosted by Shoreham Rowing Club on 17 May 2025. This event marked the first "status race" of the year for many South Coast clubs, and despite early challenges such as the turning buoys being washed away by the tide, a full day of competitive racing went ahead — much to the delight of all crews.

Hastings Rowing Club entered ten crews — our highest number of entries in recent years — and delivered standout performances across the board. Huge thanks go to Club Captain Vicky Kidd for managing the complex logistics of the day.

Race Results:

  • 1st – Men’s Novice Four Tom Heskett, John Webb, Jack Relf, Roland Rebek, coxed by Paul Heskett Their second win of the season means promotion to the Junior category — a first in recorded club history.

We also want to congratulate our first-time competitors in coastal status events: Kim Webb, Clare Lucent, and Dave Pattle — well rowed!

A special thanks to the 24th Hastings Scouts for kindly lending their minibus for the day — it’s great to support each other in our local community. And thank you to Alan Bates for capturing the day through his lens, and to everyone who cheered “Go Hastings!” from the beach.
