Herne Bay Regatta Success for Hastings Rowing Club

On Saturday 26th July, Hastings Rowing Club travelled to Herne Bay for their annual coastal regatta—and this time, we made it to the beach first! Thanks to our fearless captain Vicky Kidd, we secured prime boat rigging space early in the day, setting the tone for a strong showing on the water.

The conditions were ideal, and our crews delivered some impressive performances:

  • 🥇 Open Junior Pair – Roland Rebek & John Webb claimed 1st place by the narrowest of margins, edging out Herne Bay. This win sees them sitting atop the CARA South Coast leaderboard.

  • 🛶 Open Novice Sculls – With two entries, Roland placed 3rd and Tom Heskett finished a close 4th.

  • 💪 Women’s Junior Pair – Cammy Korkis & Kim Webb finished 5th, showing steady improvement throughout the season.

  • 👊 Open Junior Fours – Thomas Heskett, John Webb, Jack Relf & Roland Rebek, coxed by Holly Cavill, placed 6th.

  • 🔥 Women’s Novice Four – Victoria Clarke, Kim Webb, Megan Gowland & Claire Lucent, with Holly Cavill on the rudder, finished 8th with plenty of spirit and effort.

  • 👏 A big well done to Cammy Korkis for doubling up in both the Open and Women’s Junior Sculls—an amazing effort!

We extend a huge thank you to Herne Bay Rowing Club for hosting a smooth and friendly event, and to all the clubs who made it a great day of racing.

Special thanks to Rotherview Nursery and Ray Bates for lending us a towing vehicle, and to Vicky for ensuring everything ran like clockwork.

Next stop: Folkestone Regatta on Sunday 27th July! Let’s go, HRC!
